PLAYDIUM BALI UPDATE 5 | ON CLOUD NINE

After a long, tiring, but fun six weeks, our playground in Ubud, Bali is finally complete! There were a few jobs left in the final week, but none of them were labour intensive, so we used the time off to travel around Bali. We had to finish making the ladders, add extra floor support, and finish making balustrades around the higher areas of the playground. We originally had thatched palm leaves clad over some areas, but we found that it looked too sloppy and was actually a safety concern due to the sharp edges of the leaves. We replaced the cladding by planting young bamboo trees around certain areas so that it would naturally grow around certain areas of the playground.

Because our playground has more than one level, we had to make ladders to allow the children to access the upper floors. Our team had also tied up nets to put up behind the football goal so that any balls wouldn't be kicked through the playground whilst other children were on it.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who helped us with the completion of PLAYDIUM this summer, it would not have been possible without them! Everyone worked extremely hard and provided all the help we needed.

We would like to thank everyone that came along during the six weeks of building. It has been an unforgettable summer! We hope that everyone who participated enjoyed it as much as we did and would be back to help again next summer.

Cheers!
