CONSULTANCY WORKSHOPS
Our team has extensive experience in delivering design and construction projects that have a specific focus on creating positive impact. Whether you are an NGO, commercial client, government agency, student, design practice, or anything in between, we’re here to create a tailored consultation service for your needs.
With a combined 20 years of experience implementing projects across 12 countries and 4 continents, we’ve developed strategies, business models, community engagement techniques and design methodologies that will maximise the potential of your project. So no matter what stage you’re at, we’re here to lend a hand. Our goal is to work with you to create a custom framework that focuses on problem solving and idea generation.
We’ve split our key areas of expertise into 3 categories: impact, design and strategy. In most cases, these are inherently interlinked, and a successful project will integrate all 3 to a high level. We offer our workshop consultation service as individual categories or as a package. If your needs don’t fit within one of these workshops then please get in touch with our team to organise a custom plan: info@caukinstudio.com
01: IMPACT INTEGRATION
Our impact integration workshop will aid in identifying areas of your project, business or idea that present opportunities for positive impact. We aim to thread sustainable development goals into every area of an idea, including the process, outcome, branding, and legacy.
This workshop will develop strategies for implementing impact programmes into measurable and targeted action points, so you know exactly what steps to take. These will include community engagement techniques and communication tools. You’ll also have a better idea of how to measure and evaluate the progress of your impact initiatives. Measuring your impact is an amazing way to increase your chances of successful fundraising or investment.
WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
Architects seeking advice on threading impact into every area of the design and build process.
Charities looking to maximise impact through a project.
Business owners seeking to give back to their community in the most effective way possible.
Government agencies aiming to extend their impact beyond basic necessities.
Individuals looking to engage with or initiate philanthropic projects.
02: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Our design development workshop will focus on both idea generation and design refinement. This consultation service will be tailored to the stage of your project, whether it is at early concept or construction design.
We’ll work quickly to understand the project brief before delving into crucial design considerations that will ensure a successful project. Pragmatic and functional issues will be considered in tandem with the theoretical and intangible aspects that bring a project to life. We’ll work with you through a collaborative process to harness your vision for the final outcome and use that to inform the key design drivers that will guide the spatial qualities, layout, details, material selection and much more!
WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
Charities that are looking to create visual or built solutions to issues they have identified and require design expertise.
Architecture and design students looking to push their projects to the next level with input from experienced professionals.
Business owners and start-ups that are looking to create a clear branding identity that reflects their ethos and product / service.
Individuals or businesses embarking on a design and construction project seeking consultation and idea generation.
03: PROJECT STRATEGY
Our strategy workshop is aimed at turning an idea, design or concept into a real deliverable project that considers logistical and contextual obstacles. We’ll help you identify the steps you need to put in place to create a smooth and successful roadmap to completion. A crucial aspect to this will be analysing your own strengths and weaknesses, and thus determining potential collaborators, partners and team members that would be needed.
Our team can help to inform you about any legal and financial considerations, particularly if you are working in an unfamiliar location. We can also outline typical construction processes, timelines and budgeting options.
WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR:
Business owners and start-ups that are looking to create a carefully considered road-map for a specific project.
Charities that are unsure on the logistics, processes and best practices for implementing a new project.
Individuals that have a unique idea they want to explore and require advice to make it a reality.
Architecture or design students that already have a project and design but lack knowledge in implementation and construction.
How it works:
The consultation service is split into 4 stages outlined below. These can be undertaken within a single intensive day (per workshop category), or split across days to fit around your schedule. Your time commitment will be required for stages A and C whilst B and D will be completed by our team independently.
A. INTRODUCTION (video call, 45 minutes)
Collaboration is the key to a successful project, and we believe that a fruitful collaboration is built on shared values and a common goal. Our first meeting will go into the details of the project brief and objectives, why you are doing this project and what you would like to get out of this workshop. We’ll find out more about you and your organisation, and you’ll learn about who we are too!
B. RESEARCH (2 hours per workshop category)
We’ll use the information from our first meeting to begin our own research into the specific topic or challenge ahead of our main workshop session. We’ll format our initial research findings into an agenda with key discussion points and collaborative tasks to ensure a productive workshop. We’ll assemble relevant precedents, documents and potential external personnel to aid in the conversations.
C. TESTING & PARTICIPATION (video call or in person, 2 hours per workshop category)
This will be the main workshop session and will involve interactive tasks as well as discussions that target the biggest challenges your project has. The session will be broken down into an agenda with specific outcomes along the way. We’ll get all possible ideas out onto the table and refine those that work the best. If you’ve signed up for more than one category, we can spread these sessions out.
D. DOCUMENTATION (2.5 hours per workshop category)
Following the interactive workshop[s], we’ll collate the information, research, design ideas and strategies together into a document that is easy for you and your team to digest. The summary document will be tailored to the findings of the workshop and your specific needs, as well as outline a roadmap forward and any other deliverables identified.
