In collaboration with Spotlight on Africa at the Namatala Secondary School, CAUKIN Studio has completed the design for a new Basketball & Sports Academy - a dynamic addition to the school campus that champions physical wellbeing, community engagement, and youth development.

The Academy is conceived as a central hub for sport and activity, anchored by a full-sized central court flanked by two practice courts. These spaces are designed not only for structured training and competition but also as everyday gathering points for students of all ages. Complementing the courts is an outdoor gym and a running track, offering a range of fitness opportunities that support holistic health and encourage lifelong active habits.

The design responds directly to local aspirations and the evolving needs of the school community. Namatala Secondary School has grown as an educational institution and to further enrich student life, the Academy provides flexible spaces that can be used for structured sport programmes, informal play, school events, and community activities. Its layout promotes ease of movement, clear spatial organisation, and visibility across key activity zones, enhancing both usability and safety.

Sustainability and contextual fit have been central to the design approach. Materials, detailing, and construction techniques have been selected to resonate with the site’s environment and to support durable, low‑maintenance outcomes for long‑term use.
